Taste the most local food in Athens. Skip the tourist traps and discover the local bites of the Greek culture. More than 14 traditional, delicious, freshly cooked tastings. We will be walking in the heart of central Athens, where Athenians do their shopping for the daily meal.

We will introduce you to the vendors of our favorite local shops, share traditional breakfast delicacies, smell and learn about herbs and spices, visit a deli shop to taste the original honey glazed yoghurt and take you to the magical word of olives. Also, one of the best Greek traditional restaurants (mageirio) will be accommodating you for a seated lunch, cheese tasting and of course, you’ll try a dessert.
During the walk, you’ll meet our old friends in the oldest vegetable, fish and meat market of Athens and you’ll also try our best wines and distillates of the region.
Get the chance to know how to cook all the dishes you will try, and get local insight into recipes, tips for Athens, the islands and the culinary traditions.

Great food tour

Wow, this was a great experience, as other reviewers point out! We tasted a lot of delicious bites, the stories and explanations were memorable and interesting, and we finished with a very generous meal, which was unexpected after all the other small bites we had already enjoyed while walking. Douk was a great host and the pace, selection and value of the tour were perfect. We highly recommend this experience!

Magical both times

This is the second time I’ve been on Julia’s tour. It was just as magical as the first time and with different locations. If you do one experience in Athens, do this!

Loved the tour!!!!

We went on this as a group of 8 which included 4 adults and 4 children, all of whom are in college and later in high school. we had a fantastic time with Julia and Douk listening about customs, local food vendors and trying several delicious small dishes including olives, cheeses, pie and cheeses tired with a lovely meal and dessert. We so enjoyed Julia's experiences growing up in the area as well as Douk's knowledge of the foods. If you are looking to learn more about Athens and Greece through the eyes of local residents, I would highly recommend this tour. Every single one of us enjoyed it so much and we're glad we waited to eat much until the tour. Loved it!!
